Atishi Makes Maiden Budget Speech on Monday
Delhi Finance minister Atishi presented her maiden budget speech on Monday. Among other features, she announced the ‘Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana’ under which ₹ 1,000 will be given monthly to all Delhi women aged above 18 from the fiscal year 2024-25. Atishi announced the new scheme in her speech today.
“The Kejriwal government will give a monthly amount of ₹ 1,000 to every woman aged 18 or above. Under the Mukyamnatri Mahila Samman Yojana, women will be given this benefit,” she said.
Atishi presented the budget for the financial year 2024-25 in the Delhi Assembly on Monday. The budget has an outlay of ₹ 76,000 crore. The finance minister said the Delhi government is aiming to realize the dream of ‘Ram Rajya’.
Delhi government continues focus on health, education, roads, and power
In today’s budget presentation, the Delhi government continued its focus on health, education, roads, and power among others. It allocated ₹16,396 crore for the education sector and ₹8,685 crore for the health sector.
In 2023, the then Finance Minister Kailash Gehlot presented Delhi’s annual budget. His presentation was following the arrest of former finance minister Manish Sisodia in the excise policy case. The budget was based on the “Clean, beautiful, and modern” Delhi theme. The 2023 Delhi budget was presented for ₹ 78,800 crore with an allocation of ₹ 21,000 crore for the city’s infrastructure.
