Sanjay Leela Bhansali has just signed three leading Bollywood actors for his latest film, ‘Love and War’ and they are Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. The film reunites Bhansali and Kapoor after more than 15 years and marks his first film with Kaushal. Bhansali will be reuniting with Bhatt after the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2022.
The new film was announced on Wednesday, January 24 and is slated to release on Christmas 2025.

The news of the film was shared by Vicky Kaushal on Instagram. The post featured the announcement along with Kaushal, Bhatt and Kapoor’s signatures. Timeless Love Story Against The Backdrop Of War
As per sources in the know, the leading Bollywood director had been fascinated about making a pure love story that stands the test of time, and this one fits in right there.
It is a timeless love story with three principal characters that are played by Ranbir, Alia, and Vicky. The filmmaker is aiming to start shooting the film around November 2024 on a marathon schedule. This film is an original love story set against the backdrop of war.
“It will be a homage by Bhansali to the 1964 classic Sangam that was directed by Raj Kapoor,” revealed a source.
More details on the film are under wraps for now, but we know the trio of Ranbir, Alia, and Vicky are excited to team up on this epic love story.
“It’s a great story that has got all three Bollywood stars excited. It’s a casting coup that has been pulled off in very short span of time. And, that has happened essentially on the power of his screenplay. Rarely are the top names from the fraternity excited by the same project and it has happened this time with SLB, Ranbir, Alia, and Vicky coming together,” the source added.
The film will mark the reunion of Bhansali with Ranbir Kapoor after Sawaariya in 2007. The film marked the debut of Kapoor in the Hindi filmdom. It was earlier revealed that Bhansali was initially planning to make Baiju Bawra with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Now, he has decided to put that project on hold and embark on a new journey with this love story against a war backdrop.
