AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has arrived in Kolkata to begin campaigning ahead of the upcoming West Bengal elections, signaling his party’s renewed push to expand its footprint in the state.
Reacting to his visit, senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh said that while several parties have attempted to establish themselves in Bengal, the state’s electorate does not easily accept new entrants.
“Bengal Doesn’t Accept Anyone Quickly”
Speaking to reporters, Ghosh remarked:
“Owaisi has long tried to enter Bengal. Many parties have succeeded elsewhere, but people in Bengal don’t accept anyone quickly. They will have to work, fight, and then Bengal will accept them.”
His comments underline the competitive and deeply rooted political landscape of West Bengal, where regional dynamics often shape electoral outcomes.
AIMIM’s Continued Push in Bengal
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), led by Owaisi, has been making efforts to expand beyond its traditional strongholds, particularly targeting states with significant minority populations.
The party had previously contested elections in West Bengal but is yet to make a major electoral breakthrough.
