Rahul Gandhi Addresses Puthuppally Rally, Promises ₹250 Rubber Price

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed a massive public rally in Puthuppally, Kerala, where he paid heartfelt tribute to former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and outlined key promises for farmers and the state.

Rahul Gandhi said that when asked which constituencies he should campaign in across Kerala, Puthuppally was a must-visit due to its deep emotional connection with Oommen Chandy, who represented the constituency for nearly 50 years. He recalled Chandy’s unwavering dedication, noting how he participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra despite being unwell, and highlighted the 30-hour-long funeral procession as a testament to his immense popularity and public respect.

He also expressed his support for Chandy’s son, stating that he was in Puthuppally to campaign for him and to continue the legacy of service to the people.

Focusing on key economic issues, Rahul Gandhi addressed the challenges faced by rubber farmers in Kerala, pointing out that the sector is dominated by small farmers who struggle with market instability. He criticized the Left Democratic Front (LDF) for failing to deliver on its 2016 promise to maintain rubber prices at ₹250 per kilogram, accusing the government of neglecting farmers over the past decade.

Reaffirming the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) commitment, he announced that the first Cabinet meeting of a future UDF government would fix the rubber price at ₹250 per kg. He further added that the party’s manifesto also includes a plan to increase the price to ₹300 per kg, aiming to ensure better income security for farmers.

Rahul Gandhi concluded by emphasizing that the Congress party stands by its promises and is committed to improving the livelihoods of farmers across Kerala.
