In a reassuring statement amid rising concerns over the West Asia geopolitical situation, Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu informed the Rajya Sabha that India currently has sufficient Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) reserves to meet demand for the next 60 days without disruption.
Addressing the House, the minister emphasized that domestic fuel production remains stable, ensuring uninterrupted supply to the aviation sector. He noted that nearly 50% of ATF is consumed domestically, while the remaining portion is exported, reflecting both strong production capacity and global demand.
Aviation Safety in Focus
Highlighting safety as the ministry’s top priority, Naidu stated that enhanced safety audits are being conducted across airlines to maintain strict operational standards.
On aircraft safety, he confirmed that all necessary inspections of Boeing aircraft fuel control switch mechanisms have been completed, with results found to be satisfactory—providing further assurance to passengers and operators.
Emergency Preparedness Measures
The minister also underscored that safety remains paramount in emergency landing decisions, which are taken based on multiple factors including:
Aircraft type
Weather conditions
Regulatory protocols
These measures ensure that passenger safety is never compromised under any circumstances.
Strategic Assurance
Amid Global Uncertainty
The government’s statement comes at a time when global energy markets remain volatile due to ongoing tensions in West Asia. However, India’s preparedness and robust fuel management strategy aim to shield the aviation sector from any immediate disruptions.
