Indian tennis legend Leander Paes officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today, describing it as a “big day” in his life.

After joining the party, Paes expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP leader Nitin Nabin, thanking them for the warm welcome.

Calling it a “big responsibility,” Paes said, “After representing India in tennis for 40 years, I am now ready to serve my country and its youth.” He also highlighted the Khelo India movement as a major initiative to promote sports and encourage young talent across the country.
Paes’ entry into politics marks a significant moment, bringing a celebrated sports personality into the BJP fold with a focus on youth engagement and sports development.
