Kala Chana Protein Brownies: This Healthy, Gooey Dessert Packs 24g Protein Per Serving

Craving something sweet without missing your fitness goals? Vinita Mungi’s kala chana brownies are rich, fudgy, and high in plant-based protein.

In a time when most “healthy desserts” compromise on taste and texture, content creator Vinita Mungi is redefining expectations with a unique ingredient—kala chana. On March 25, she took to Instagram to share her recipe for gooey, protein-rich brownies made using black chickpeas, proving that indulgence and nutrition can go hand in hand.

Known for her plant-based, high-protein recipes, Vinita describes these brownies as a perfect balance of flavour and health. “Who said brownies can’t be indulgent and nourishing?” she shared, adding that the recipe combines rich chocolate taste with the goodness of kala chana, making it both satisfying and wholesome.

While using legumes in desserts may sound unusual, Vinita assures that the taste remains unchanged. According to her, the kala chana blends seamlessly into the batter, creating a soft, fudgy texture without any noticeable flavour. “They’re super rich, gooey and taste like real brownies—not the dry ‘healthy’ ones,” she said in her video.

One of the biggest highlights of this recipe is its impressive nutritional profile. Each serving delivers around 24 grams of protein, making it ideal for fitness enthusiasts or anyone looking to increase their protein intake. In addition to protein, the brownies are also high in fibre, supporting better digestion and overall health.

Vinita also emphasised the use of clean, plant-based protein powder, free from lactose, artificial sweeteners, and preservatives, ensuring a healthier dessert option without unnecessary additives.
