Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. S.S. Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, today conducted a briefing for 282 Central Observers deployed across 126 Assembly Constituencies (ACs) in Assam, 140 ACs in Kerala, and 30 ACs in Puducherry. The briefing was attended by the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of the respective states and union territory, ahead of the Assembly Elections scheduled on April 9, 2026.

The Commission instructed observers to ensure that elections are conducted in a festive spirit, maintaining the highest standards of free and fair voting. Observers were also tasked with preventing intimidation, violence, or inducement and ensuring strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct.
