BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has strongly criticized TMC MP Mahua Moitra, calling her remarks about the Gujarati community “the heights of shamelessness.” Sharing his views on social media, Adhikari accused Moitra of insulting not just the Gujarati community but the very soul of India.
Adhikari highlighted that questioning the contributions of Gujaratis to India’s freedom struggle is a direct attack on the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who united the 562 princely states into modern India.
“While the BJP stands for Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, the TMC thrives on Divide and Rule,” Adhikari said. He emphasized that anyone who fought against the British was a Bharatiya first, irrespective of regional identity, and accused the TMC of sowing discord out of desperation as political ground shifts beneath them.
Adhikari urged the Gujarati community in Bhabanipur to take note of the “hateful and disrespectful” comments while reassuring that Bengalis respect every Indian community — from Marwaris to Punjabis, Biharis, and beyond.
The BJP leader emphasized that such careless and provocative comments by a TMC MP cannot shake the unity and spirit of India.
