West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission while addressing an election rally at Dhumurpahar in Murshidabad.
Speaking to supporters, Banerjee claimed that control over law and order in the state has effectively been taken out of her hands. She alleged that the Election Commission of India is exercising full authority during the poll period and accused it of functioning under the influence of the BJP and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“Law and order has been completely snatched away from me. The EC is controlling everything, and the EC is controlled by BJP and Amit Shah. It is as if President’s Rule is being run in Bengal,” Banerjee said during her address.
Responding to the recent incident in Malda, where tensions escalated amid protests, the Chief Minister stated that she had not been informed about the situation. “I don’t know who is responsible for the incident that happened in Malda yesterday. I was not informed by anyone,” she added.
Her remarks come amid heightened political tensions in the state as campaigning intensifies, with allegations and counter-allegations between major political parties over governance, election conduct, and administrative control.
