RR vs MI IPL 2026 : Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Fireworks Power Rajasthan Royals to Top of Table

In a rain-curtailed 11-over thriller at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) extended their winning streak to three matches, defeating the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 27 runs. A masterclass in power-hitting by Yashasvi Jaiswal and a clinical bowling performance ensured the Royals climbed to the #1 spot in the IPL 2026 points table.

The Jaiswal-Sooryavanshi Show

After a two-and-a-half-hour rain delay, Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl. However, the decision backfired immediately. RR openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi unleashed an absolute carnage, stitching together an 80-run opening stand in just 5 overs.
Jaiswal remained unbeaten on a staggering 77 off 32 balls* (10 fours, 4 sixes), while Sooryavanshi proved his mettle by smashing 39 off 14 balls, including two massive sixes against Jasprit Bumrah. Despite two quick wickets from MI’s Allah Ghazanfar, the Royals finished with a humongous 150/3 in their allotted 11 overs.

Mumbai Indians’ Chase Collapses
Chasing a daunting target of 151 (Required Run Rate: 13.72), Mumbai Indians’ top order crumbled under the pressure of the lights. Jofra Archer struck in the first over to remove Ryan Rickelton, while Nandre Burger dismissed the dangerous Suryakumar Yadav.

The turning point came when Sandeep Sharma trapped Rohit Sharma (5) LBW—the sixth time he has dismissed the former MI skipper in IPL history. With Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma falling cheaply to Ravi Bishnoi, MI were reduced to 46/5. Late cameos from Naman Dhir and Sherfane Rutherford (25 each) weren’t enough as Mumbai finished at 123/9.
