TMC Delegation Meets CEC Gyanesh Kumar Over Voter List Deletions; Derek O’Brien Alleges ‘Get Lost’ Remark

A delegation from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) met Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to raise concerns over the alleged deletion of nearly 91 lakh voters’ names from the electoral rolls in West Bengal.

The meeting, however, sparked controversy after TMC MP Derek O’Brien claimed that the delegation was dismissed abruptly. Addressing the media after the interaction, O’Brien alleged, “I want to tell you what the CEC told us within seven minutes of the meeting: ‘Get Lost’. We are the second largest opposition party in Parliament.”

The TMC has accused the Election Commission of India of large-scale irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal, alleging that genuine voters have been removed ahead of upcoming elections. The party has demanded immediate corrective measures and transparency in the verification process.

According to party leaders, the issue could significantly impact democratic participation if not addressed urgently. They have also indicated that they may escalate the matter further if their concerns remain unresolved.

The development has intensified political tensions, with opposition parties raising questions over electoral integrity, while the Commission is expected to clarify its position in the coming days.
