In an official statement, the ministry reiterated India’s consistent position on the need for de-escalation and diplomatic engagement. “We welcome the ceasefire reached and hope that it will lead to a lasting peace in West Asia. As we have continuously advocated earlier, de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy are essential to bring an early end to the ongoing conflict,” the statement read.

Highlighting the broader global impact, the ministry noted that the conflict has caused significant humanitarian distress while also disrupting global energy supplies and trade networks. The statement underscored the importance of maintaining stability in critical maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz.

India further emphasized that uninterrupted navigation and the free flow of global commerce remain crucial for international economic stability. “We expect that unimpeded freedom of navigation and global flow of commerce would prevail through the Strait of Hormuz,” the ministry added.

India’s response reflects its strategic interest in regional stability, given its reliance on energy imports and trade routes passing through West Asia.
