AIMIM Ends Alliance with Humayun Kabir, To Contest Bengal Elections Independently

In a major political development ahead of the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen( AIMIM )has officially withdrawn its alliance with Humayun Kabir’s party, signaling a decisive shift in its strategy in the state.

Addressing the development, AIMIM stated:
“Humayun Kabir’s recent revelations have highlighted the deep vulnerabilities faced by Muslims in Bengal. AIMIM firmly states that it cannot associate with any individual or platform that questions or undermines the integrity and dignity of the Muslim community.”

The party emphasized that the decision stems from its commitment to safeguarding the dignity and political representation of marginalized communities, particularly Muslims in West Bengal.
AIMIM further noted that despite decades of governance under secular parties, Muslims in Bengal continue to remain among the most poor, neglected, and underrepresented communities in the state.

Reiterating its core political philosophy, the party stated that its participation in elections is aimed at ensuring an independent political voice for marginalized groups. In line with this approach, AIMIM confirmed that it will contest the upcoming Bengal elections independently, without entering into alliances with any other political party.

The move is expected to influence electoral equations in key constituencies, especially those with significant minority populations, potentially reshaping the political narrative ahead of the 2026 polls.
