French President Emmanuel Macron has said he held discussions with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian, focusing on the ongoing diplomatic developments in Islamabad and broader regional security concerns.
Macron urged Iran to “seize the opportunity” presented by the talks launched in Islamabad to work toward a lasting de-escalation and a comprehensive agreement that would include strong security guarantees for all regional stakeholders.

He also emphasized the need for Iran to swiftly restore freedom and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that France is ready to contribute to efforts ensuring maritime stability.
Reiterating concerns over regional conflict dynamics, Macron stressed the importance of full respect for the ceasefire, including in Lebanon. He expressed France’s support for the Lebanese authorities, highlighting that they remain the only legitimate body responsible for exercising state sovereignty and determining Lebanon’s future.
