‘Devious Intentions’: Derek O’Brien Slams Modi Govt Ahead of Parliament Debate on Women’s Quota and Delimitation

Senior TMC leader Derek O’Brien on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the central government ahead of the upcoming Parliament session, accusing it of having “devious intentions” on key issues like women’s reservation and delimitation.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, alleging that the government was “mocking Parliament” and engaging in political theatrics in the run-up to elections.

O’Brien’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions over the implementation of the women’s reservation bill and the contentious issue of delimitation, both of which are expected to be major talking points in the forthcoming parliamentary proceedings.

He further criticized the timing and intent behind the government’s moves, suggesting that they are politically motivated rather than aimed at genuine reform.

The comments have intensified the ongoing war of words between the opposition and the ruling dispensation, as parties gear up for crucial electoral battles in the coming months.

With Parliament set to deliberate on key legislative and structural changes, the debate around women’s quota and constituency delimitation is expected to dominate the political discourse.
