The Indian National Congress organized the “Run for Ambedkar, Run for Constitution” marathon in the national capital on Sunday, marking the beginning of intensified political outreach ahead of B. R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary on April 14.

The event, led by the party’s SC and OBC departments, saw participation from senior leaders, party workers, and members of SC, ST, and OBC communities as part of Congress’s ‘Social Justice Month’ campaign.
Addressing the gathering, senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi strongly criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of systematically attacking the Constitution and weakening democratic institutions. He stressed that protecting the ideals laid down by Dr. Ambedkar is essential for safeguarding India’s democracy.
'संविधान' बाबा साहेब अंबेडकर जी का संदेश है। अगर संविधान नहीं होता, तो भारत का ये स्वरूप हमें देखने को नहीं मिलता
आज RSS-BJP के लोग संविधान को खत्म करना चाहते हैं, क्योंकि ये नहीं चाहते देश में सभी को एक समान माना जाए।

Other leaders, including Tanuj Punia and Udit Raj, echoed similar sentiments, alleging that constitutional values and social justice are under threat. They called for unity among marginalized communities to defend their rights and representation.
Speakers at the event highlighted the relevance of Ambedkar’s vision in contemporary India, emphasizing equality, justice, and fraternity as the pillars of the Constitution. The marathon also served as a platform to mobilize support among SC, ST, and OBC voters ahead of upcoming state elections.
The event concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to uphold constitutional values and protect the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar.
