Mamata Banerjee Mourns Demise of Legendary Singer Asha Bhosle, Recalls Her Timeless Legacy

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed profound grief over the demise of legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, calling her a “great musical genius” whose voice mesmerised generations.

In her condolence message, Banerjee said Asha Bhosle was not just an iconic singer but an inspiration who ruled the hearts of millions across the globe. She highlighted the singer’s immense contribution to Bengali music, noting that Bhosle recorded numerous Bengali songs and enjoyed immense popularity in West Bengal.

The Chief Minister also recalled that the state government had conferred its highest civilian honour, Bangabibhushan, on Asha Bhosle in 2018 in recognition of her extraordinary contribution to music.

Extending her condolences, Banerjee conveyed her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, the music fraternity, and millions of fans worldwide mourning the loss of a legendary voice.
