In a series of scathing posts on Truth Social, President Donald Trump has issued a direct warning to the Iranian regime, demanding the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and declaring that the United States will not tolerate continued “extortion” of the international waterway.
The President’s comments come on the heels of a historic, 20-hour marathon session in Islamabad, Pakistan, where a high-level U.S. delegation—led by Vice President JD Vance, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner—met face-to-face with Iranian representatives for the first time in decades.
The Nuclear Deal-Breaker
Despite the “friendly and respectful” atmosphere reported between the negotiators, President Trump made it clear that the talks reached a dead end on one non-negotiable point: Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
”IRAN IS UNWILLING TO GIVE UP ITS NUCLEAR AMBITIONS!” Trump wrote. “All of those points [agreed to] don’t matter compared to allowing Nuclear Power to be in the hands of such volatile, difficult, unpredictable people.”
The President reiterated his long-standing doctrine, vowing that “IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON!”
The Crisis in the Strait of Hormuz
Addressing the ongoing maritime blockade, Trump dismissed Iran’s claims of naval strength, asserting that the U.S. military has already neutralized most of Iran’s “mine droppers.” He accused the regime of violating “every law in the book” by disrupting the flow of global commerce.
While Iran claims to have mined the waters, the President signaled that the U.S. is moving forward with clearing the passage, telling the regime they “better begin the process of getting this INTERNATIONAL WATERWAY OPEN AND FAST!”
Pakistan’s Role in Averting “Horrendous War”
The President also offered high praise for the mediation efforts of Pakistani leadership. He credited Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for their “extraordinary” competence, claiming their intervention saved “30 to 50 million lives” by preventing a total war between Iran and its neighbors, as well as de-escalating tensions with India.
