Amit Shah Targets Mamata Banerjee Over ‘Nephew Succession’ Claim at Bengal Rally Ahead of Assembly Polls

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday launched a sharp political attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while addressing a rally in Kulti ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.

Shah alleged that Banerjee is attempting to pave the way for her nephew to succeed her as Chief Minister immediately after the elections, accusing her of promoting dynastic politics in the state.

“Immediately after the elections, Mamata Didi wants to install her nephew in her place. Mamata Didi, today I am saying here in Kulti that your dream will not come true—your nephew will never be able to become the Chief Minister,” Shah said.

He further accused Banerjee of misleading the public by claiming that an “outsider” would be made Chief Minister if the BJP comes to power in the state.

“Today I am telling you that only someone born in Bengal, educated in Bengal, and who speaks Bengali will become the Chief Minister of Bengal,” Shah asserted.

The remarks come as political campaigning intensifies in West Bengal, with parties sharpening their narratives around leadership, identity, and governance ahead of the Assembly elections.
