In a significant escalation of political tensions, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has announced that he will formally approach the Rajya Sabha Chairman seeking the disqualification of three MPs—Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, and Sandeep Pathak.

Singh stated that the move comes after the three leaders allegedly joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which he argues constitutes a violation of the anti-defection law under the Tenth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
According to Singh, switching allegiance to another political party amounts to “voluntarily giving up membership” of their original party—in this case, the AAP—making them liable for disqualification from the Rajya Sabha.
“I will submit a letter to the Rajya Sabha Chairman demanding their disqualification, as joining another party is clearly a violation under the Tenth Schedule,” Singh said in a statement shared on social media.
The development marks a major political flashpoint, as defections from AAP to BJP could significantly alter the party’s standing in Parliament. The Rajya Sabha Chairman will now have to examine the petition and decide on the validity of the claims under the anti-defection provisions.
The situation continues to evolve, with potential legal and political ramifications expected in the coming days.
