In a significant geopolitical development,  US President Donald J. Trump announced a new initiative titled “Project Freedom”, aimed at ensuring safe passage for international ships stranded in the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.

Taking to social media, Trump stated that multiple countries—many of which are not directly involved in the ongoing tensions in the Middle East—have approached the United States for assistance. These nations reportedly have vessels stuck in restricted waters due to escalating regional instability.

Trump emphasized that these ships belong to “neutral and innocent bystanders” caught in a conflict they have “absolutely nothing to do with.” Highlighting the broader economic and humanitarian implications, he said the US would step in to guide these vessels safely out of the affected zone.

“For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we will guide their ships safely out,” Trump wrote.

The initiative, Project Freedom, is set to begin Monday morning (Middle East time), with US representatives tasked with coordinating efforts to ensure the safe movement of both ships and crew members.
