In a significant political development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made notable gains in Keralam by securing victories in three key constituencies—Nemom, Kazhakoottam, and Chathannoor—in the Assembly elections held on April 9.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has successfully won seats in Nemom and Chathannoor, while also registering a strong performance in Kazhakoottam, marking a breakthrough moment for the party in a state traditionally dominated by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Indian National Congress.
Keralam BJP president Rajeev Chandrasekhar confirmed the victories and emphasized that the results are a clear response to critics who doubted the party’s prospects in the state.
“Today, the people of Nemom and Chathannoor have given a clear reply to the Congress and CPI(M). There will be two MLAs from BJP-NDA,” Chandrasekhar stated.
The wins in Nemom, Kazhakoottam, and Chathannoor signal a potential shift in Keralam’s political landscape, where the BJP has been striving to establish a stronger foothold.
Political analysts view this as an important step for the BJP in expanding its influence in southern India, especially in a state where electoral success has historically been limited.
