India’s flagship carrier Air India has announced a temporary reduction in its international flight operations from June to August this year, citing ongoing airspace restrictions and rising jet fuel prices.
The airline said it will rationalise several overseas services as part of operational adjustments aimed at managing costs and maintaining efficiency during the peak travel season.
As part of the temporary suspension, Air India will halt flights on major international routes including Delhi–Chicago, Mumbai–New York, Delhi–Shanghai, and Chennai–Singapore, along with two additional overseas sectors.
According to the airline, the move has been necessitated by operational challenges linked to restricted air corridors and escalating aviation fuel expenses, which continue to impact global airline operations.
Passengers affected by the changes are expected to receive alternative travel arrangements, rescheduling options, or refunds as per airline policy. Air India has advised travellers to check the latest flight schedules before planning their journeys.
The revised international schedule will remain effective through August, after which the airline is expected to review operations based on market conditions and operational feasibility.
