US President Donald Trump met Chinese President Xi Jinping for the second straight day in Beijing, with both leaders holding extensive discussions on trade cooperation, geopolitical tensions, and regional security.
Addressing the media after the meeting, Trump praised the progress made between the two nations and highlighted what he described as major breakthroughs in trade negotiations.
“We made some fantastic trade deals great for both countries,” Trump said, adding that several long-standing issues had been resolved through direct engagement between Washington and Beijing.
The US President also spoke highly of Xi Jinping, calling him “a great man” whom he respects greatly. According to Trump, the discussions covered a range of global concerns, including the Iran crisis and maritime security in strategic international waterways.
“We discussed Iran and want that crisis to end. We don’t want them to have a nuclear weapon and want the Straits open,” Trump stated during the interaction.
Trump further confirmed that Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit the United States on September 24 as part of a reciprocal diplomatic visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations and strengthening economic cooperation between the world’s two largest economies.
“President Xi will be visiting on September 24th. The visit will be reciprocal and he will be walking back very impressed, like I am with China,” Trump added.
The Beijing talks are being closely watched globally as both nations attempt to stabilise ties amid ongoing trade tensions, regional conflicts, and shifting geopolitical dynamics. Analysts believe the outcome of the discussions could significantly influence global markets and international diplomacy in the coming months.
