Rahul Gandhi Slams Modi Government Over Fuel Price Hike, Says “Public Will Pay the Price”

Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Modi government over the recent fuel price hike, claiming that ordinary citizens would bear the burden of the Centre’s economic decisions.

Taking to social media, Rahul Gandhi wrote:
“The Modi government’s mistake, The public will pay the price.
The ₹3 shock has already arrived, The rest of the recovery will be done in installments.”

His remarks come amid growing criticism from opposition parties over the increase in petrol and diesel prices across the country.

The Congress leader alleged that the government was shifting the financial burden onto the common people despite fluctuations in global crude oil prices.

The latest fuel price revision has triggered political reactions nationwide, with opposition leaders warning that rising fuel costs could further increase inflation and affect household budgets, transportation costs, and essential commodities.

The Modi government, however, maintains that fuel pricing decisions are influenced by multiple global economic factors, including international crude oil trends and geopolitical uncertainties.

The issue is expected to intensify political debate in the coming days as opposition parties continue targeting the Centre over inflation and the rising cost of living.
