Bhartiya Janta party MP and Union Minister of State Babul Supriya laid the foundation stone of 2 elevators at Balighat station for the benefit of people. People used to climb up more than 60 stairs to catch a train. Many old-age people refrained from taking the stair route. So local lad Babul Supriyo took the initiative to start lift service. The estimated cost of this lift is 80 lac rupees.
After the foundation stone laying ceremony , Babul Supriyo said,” I am local boy. So it’s my duty to do something for this area. I am treated here like local boy not as an MP. I invited Abhisek Manusingvi, Prasun Banerjee but they didn’t came. I don’t want to do politics. People should get the benifit. Climbing more than 60 stairs is not a matter of joke. So I tried to help general people which is air conditioned lift. Baishali Dalmiya is not the MLA or MP here, but still she came and responded to our invitation”.
