In fact, it was Brentford’s first victory over Man Utd in any competition since a 2-0 FA Cup win in February 1938.

It also means Manchester United have lost their opening two Premier League fixtures for the first time since the 1992/93 campaign.

Brentford coach Thomas Frank said ,”I’m a little bit speechless and lost for words, in a way.

Because it’s Manchester United, the biggest club in the world, one of the best teams still, they have top players, and we’ve just beaten them 4-0.”

Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag: “It’s a surprise when you start the game like this; in 35 minutes conceding four goals. It’s not possible. So, the team has to take responsibility. I feel really sorry for the fans. They give everything to support us and we let them down.”

Gabriel Jesus marked his home debut for Arsenal with his first two goals for the club in a 4-2 success over Leicester City.

The Brazilian striker opened his account for us with two goals in the opening 45 minutes. His brace gave the Arsenal a two-goal lead heading into the break, before Leicester hit back when William Saliba headed into his own net.

Gabriel Jesus became the first Arsenal player to score more than once on his home Premier League debut in their 4-2 win over Leicester City.

Granit Xhaka and James Maddison exchanged strikes to ensure a tense finish, which was settled by a Gabriel Martinelli goal for the second match running, to make it two wins from two.

After the match Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said,”“I think the crowd was special, especially after Saliba’s own goal. The way they reacted was something I’ve never seen in football; the amount of support and connection they are showing with us, and especially with William, lifted the team straight away. I have to thank them so much for that.

“From the first minute, they were electric. You feel like they are totally with us, totally engaged and it is so energising for the team. The boys keep talking about it – they can’t wait to play in front of this crowd, and it’s making a huge difference.”

Kevin De Bruyne Shines for Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’Manchester City also made it back-to-back Premier League victories with a 4-0 win against AFC Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium.

lkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden netted for the champions in the first-half and an own goal by Jefferson Lerma completed the scoring with 11 minutes remaining.

After the match Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola said,”As a team we did a really good performance. Bournemouth was incredibly well structured defensively, but not just defensively offensively as well.

“They attract you with the short passes and then switch the play. Quite similar movement to how Tottenham try to do it. Defensively they defend so deep and narrow, you have to go outside.

“We started really well, with three or four corners and we had chances. After we scored one or two they don’t want to attack and we had to be patient.

“It is not easy for many reasons. We made a really good performance again.”

Saints mount comeback

A late strike from Kyle Walker-Peters helped Southampton come from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw at home to Leeds United.

Aleksandar Mitrovic had his penalty saved as Fulham were held to a goalless draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Brighton & Hove Albion’s match with Newcastle United finished by the same scoreline.

Danny Ings and Emi Buendía fired Aston Villa to their first victory of the season courtesy of a 2-1 triumph over Everton packed with late drama.
