A delegation of Congress leaders called on President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan to raise issues with the Agnipath scheme.
The delegation consisted of Mallikarjun Kharge, Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, P. Chidambaram, Jairam Ramesh and KC Venugopal. In a memorandum submitted to the President, the party alleged that the scheme carries multiple risks and subverts the long standing traditions and ethos of the armed forces. The Congress Party also expressed unhappiness that the government did not adopt wide ranging consultations before the announcement of the scheme.
