Deep Depression Over South-west Bay Of Bengal, IMD

The depression that has formed over the Bay of Bengal has developed further, intensifying into the
cyclone Michaung. Chennai is already experiencing heavy rainfall. Heavy winds with a maximum
sustained wind speed of 80-90 kmph and going up to 100 kmph accompanied by heavy rainfall are
expected tomorrow (December 05, 2023) as Michaung will hit the east coast of India, as per India
Meteorological Department (IMD). Citizens in Chennai and adjoining areas are bracing for the cyclone
as many areas in the city are already flooded due to ongoing heavy rains with parked cars floating
around. Rough to Very Rough Sea conditions are likely, and Fishermen Warning issued by IMD. Andra
Pradesh and Odisha will also experience rough weather owing to the cyclone. West Bengal is likely to
experience showers with cloudy, overcast skies throughout.
