Delhi and surrounding areas felt earthquake tremors on Thursday afternoon. The National Capital Region, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurugram experienced earthquake tremors.

Epicentre In Afghanistan

The National Center for Seismology, the nodal agency of the Government of India for the monitoring of earthquake activity has announced that the earthquake had its epicenter in Afghanistan. “Earthquake of Magnitude:6.1, Occurred on 11-01-2024, 14:50:24 IST, Lat: 36.48 & Long: 70.45, Depth: 220 Km, Location: Afghanistan,” it announced on the social media platform, X.

Earthquake Tremors Felt In Both India And Pakistan

The earthquake tremors were felt at 2.50 pm in both India and Pakistan. Also, tremors were felt in Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Punjab, and other parts of northern India. The earthquake hit the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Tremors were also felt in the south of the Pir Panchal range, as per media reports. Alongside, reports by Pakistani media stated the tremors were felt in Lahore, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s cities. We have no immediate reports of any loss of life, or damage to property so far due to today’s earthquake.
