ED Raids In Multiple Locations Across Kolkata - Bengal Recruitment Scam

The Enforcement Directorate has been in action in raids since the morning today across various
locations in Kolkata in connection with the recruitment or primary school jobs scam. The central agency
officials were accompanied by central security agency jawans and conducted raids at locations in
Canning Street (Burabazar), Manicktala, and EM Bypass.

The Enforcement Directorate raids are a fallout of a long pending search operation at the house of
Rajesh Joshi, a chartered accountant, whose role has been investigated for some time in connection with
the recruitment scam.

As per reports, the first crackdown was at Joshi’s office in Canning Street at 6.30 am that was found
locked at the time. The officials waited at the spot for a while before the office was opened. After
completing their search there, the sleuths headed for Kankurgachi and Manicktala where Joshi has flats.
There they conducted an extensive search and gathered evidence. They also interacted with locals in the
area to collect information about the case.

According to news agencies, there were nine teams involved in the search operations conducted today.
The teams of ED offices conducted raids at the offices and residences of several persons in Burabazar,
Manicktala, and EM Bypass areas of the city.

RAIDS IN CONNECTION WITH ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS ABOUT THE SCAM

“These raids are in connection with our ongoing investigations of the recruitment scam in the state.
These persons were involved in routing the illegal funds. We are looking for documents and bank
papers,” said an officer connected with today’s ED raids.
