Sania Mirza of India and Mate Pavic of Croatia defeated fourth-seeded Gabriela Dabrowski and John Peers to go to the Wimbledon mixed doubles semifinals. Sixth-seeded Indo-Croatian prevailed in a tight match on Court 3 by scores of 6-4, 3-6, and 7-5. Sania, who is competing in her final Wimbledon, became the first player in her career to advance to the mixed doubles semifinals. Sania’s incredible forehand was once again on display, and her strong strokes were problematic for her rivals.
The winner of the other quarterfinal match between the second-seeded Desirae Krawczyk-Neal Skupski and the seventh-seeded Jelena Ostapenko-Robert Farah will face Sania and Pavic.
Sania also competed in the women’s doubles tournament, however she and her Czech partner Lucie Hradecka were eliminated after falling to Magdalena Frech and Beatriz Haddad Maia 6-4, 4-6, 2-6 in the opening round.

The sixth-seeded team of Sania and Pavic earlier advanced to the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles competition when Ivan Dodig and Latisha Chan withdrew from their match in the second round.
In the opening round, Sania and Pavic defeated Georgia’s Natela Dzalamidze and Spain’s David Vega Hernandez 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (3).
Sania has previously said that she would retire at the conclusion of this season.
