During Kali Puja and Deepawali in West Bengal, the High Court directed that only green firecrackers should be sold. Kolkata Police has been ordered to keep a close watch on this. The Commissioner of Police of Kolkata will have to submit a report on whether the rules of the court have been followed or not after Diwali.

There is only some time left for Kali Puja and Deepawali to arrive in West Bengal. During this, a big decision has come from the Calcutta High Court. According to which only green crackers can be sold in the state. And only green crackers can be fired. Kolkata Police has also been alerted that the sale of firecrackers in the markets should be closely monitored by the Kolkata Police. It is worth noting that last year the Supreme Court and then the High Court had also given a similar order in the matter of sale of firecrackers. The West Bengal Pollution Control Board has made a guide line for this.

Only green firecrackers should be sold in the state
The Calcutta High Court has directed that this time only green crackers should be sold. Kolkata Police will have to take responsibility that only green crackers should be sold in the markets. The Supreme Court had said in its order that the Chief Secretary and Police Commissioner of the state where illegal firecrackers would be sold would be held responsible for this. In such a situation, the sale of firecrackers should be completely monitored. The Commissioner of Police of Kolkata will have to submit a report to the court within a week of the opening of the court after Kali Puja and Deepawali whether the court’s order has been complied with.

Two central agencies will monitor firecrackers
The National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NIRI) and Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) have been entrusted with the task of monitoring the cracker market in the state. In fact, the state had told the court in this case last year that there is no eco-friendly or ‘green’ bet manufacturing infrastructure. On Tuesday, Justice Jayamalya Bagchi of the Calcutta High Court, during the hearing of the division bench firecracker case, said that the police should ensure that only green crackers are sold in the crackers market in Kolkata. .
