Legendary singer Nirmala Mishra died of a heart failure in her house in Chetla, Kolkata. She was 84 years old.
The doctors said that for the last 3-4 years she was admitted to the hospital 10-15 times. She had suffered from a heart attack at several times. She was repeatedly hospitalized for age-related problems also but she recovered and was discharged each time.
Popular Bengali songs like “Aemon ikti jhinuk khuje pelam na” and “O tota paakhi re” has been sung by Nirmala Mishra. Even in the era of great singers like Manna Dey, Sandhya Mukherjee, Manvendra Mukherjee, Pratima Banerjee, and Shipra Basu, she has been able to steal the hearts of many with her attention-grabbing and unique voice.
