Liz Truss has been named leader of the governing Conservative Party and Britain’s next Prime Minister
UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss becomes the new British Prime Minister, succeeds ousted Boris Johnson; defeats rival Rishi Sunak, today’s announcement had triggered the beginning of a handover from Boris Johnson. Johnson was forced to announce his resignation in July after months of scandal.
On Tuesday, Truss will travel to Scotland to meet Queen Elizabeth, who will ask her to form a Government.
Soon after the announcement of her name, UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss in her speech said, she will deliver a bold plan to cut taxes and grow Britain’s economy and they will deliver a great victory for the Conservative Party in 2024.
In a tweet Liz Truss said,”I am honoured to be elected Leader of the Conservative Party.
Thank you for putting your trust in me to lead and deliver for our great country.
I will take bold action to get all of us through these tough times, grow our economy, and unleash the United Kingdom’s potential.”
