Contractual workers of SSKM hospital showed protest in the hospital on Saturday. They demanded equal pay for both permanent and contractual staffs. They demanded that they should receive the same salary as per the state government rules.
State governments saw a big crisis during coronavirus pandemic situation. At that time, contractual workers were hired. But since Covid19 situation has been better now they are plying for a permanent job.
Trinamool Congress leader Madan Mitra went to the hospital after hearing about the protest. Madan Mitra assured that he would take up the matter to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He also said that he would inform state minister Aroop Biswas about the matter. Madan Mitra assured to stood beside them and requested to withdraw the protest for the time being.
