The chief minister said, “I kept in touch with the area till the fire was extinguished yesterday. The administrator left the area after the fire was extinguished and I went to do my other work. Firefighters, disaster response forces, police, volunteers – all worked together. After the fire, our job was to find a place for you to stay and eat. We did that. The whole area will be cleaned today and tomorrow. Then Calcutta Municipality will do everything as before. No worries. ”
The Chief Minister directed the police and the administration to provide adequate quantity of rice-pulses-milk-biscuits to all the affected families. He also asked to make arrangements for delivery of saris, clothes, sheets and blankets. Assuring the homeless, the chief minister said, “You can rest assured that I am the mayor and I will take care of the police. There is no reason to be afraid. We are together. ‘
Many in the crowd asked, ‘Didi, how do I cook? The chief minister assured them, “We will eat until everything is fine.” Until then, everyone should stay at Bagbazar Women’s College. ‘
