Mamata Banerjee questions ECI against 8 Phase Bengal Polls

by Kolkata Today

Trinamool Congress Supremo Mamata Banerjee questioned Election commission of India’s neutrality after the announcement of polling dates in West Bengal. She questioned unnecessary increase of phases of Election in Bengal. Tamil Nadu will see one phase Election despite of having more than 200 assembly constituencies but Bengal will see 8 phase Election in 294 constituencies.

Mamata Banerjee said at a press conference at Kalighat,” Bihar has 240 seats there. They are having 3 phase Election in Bihar. Tamil Nadu had more than 200 seats. There only be 1phase Election.Kerala has 1 phase Election. Then why 8 phase Election in West Bengal? Whom are they giving extra profit?”.

Mamata Banerjee added,”If they don’t give any facility to state then what will they do? What BJP has asked Election commission, they have done that. They have divided one districts in two parts. I am shocked that South 24 Pargana has been divided in 3 phase because we are strong there. Is this phase division done by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah? Here they will play for 23 days. We will beat them. We are from grassroot. They are breaking districts, women, youths. I respect constitutional post. But I am sorry after this. We have seen what drama Vivek Dubey did last time in Election. I will ask Election Commission to stop being misused”.

Mamata Banerjee concluded,” Home minister should not misuse his power. Narendra Modi should not misuse his power as Prime minister. After the results you should give me best award. We are street fighter. We will fight the battle together. We will win for sure”.
