FIFA has announced the finalists for The Best FIFA Women’s Player and The Best FIFA Men’s Player awards.

The final three nominees for The Best FIFA Women’s Player are ;

Jennifer Hermoso (Spain / FC Barcelona)
Sam Kerr (Australia / Chelsea FC Women)
Alexia Putellas (Spain / FC Barcelona)
The final three nominees for The Best FIFA Men’s Player are;

Robert Lewandowski (Poland / FC Bayern München)
Lionel Messi (Argentina / FC Barcelona / Paris Saint-Germain)
Mohamed Salah (Egypt / Liverpool FC)
These two awards are given to the outstanding players in women’s and men’s football as voted for by an international jury respectively comprising the current coaches of all women’s/men’s national teams (one per team), the current captains of all women’s/men’s national teams (one per team), one specialist journalist from each territory represented by a national team and fans registered on FIFA.com.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been shortlisted for The Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award, while Chelsea’s Sam Kerr is up for the Women’s award.
The Egypt star is currently with his national team preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations but has been nominated after a blistering start to the season at club level.

Liverpool ‘s Salah is the Premier League’s top goalscorer so far this season, with 16 to his name, and is arguably in the best form of his life.

Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski and Paris St Germain’s Argentinian superstar Lionel Messi are other two names on men’s shortlist; Barcelona and Spain team-mates Jennifer Hermoso and Alexia Putellas also on women’s shortlist

Robert Lewandowski enjoyed another spectacular year at club level for Bayern, scoring a Bundesliga record 41 goals in the 2020-21 season to eclipse the previous best total set by Gerd Muller in the 1971-72 campaign.

Messi finally ended his wait for major international silverware in 2021 as he helped Argentina to win the Copa America. It was an emotional year for Messi, who left Barcelona for PSG last summer after more than 20 years at FC Barcelona

All the winners of The Best FIFA Football Awards 2021, including the recipients of the FIFA Fan Award and the FIFA Fair Play Award,will be crowned on 17 January during a TV show broadcast live from the Home of FIFA in Zurich.
