Burnley scored their first home premier League goal against Manchester United since August 2009.
On that occasion, Robbie Blake scored their first ever goal in the competition in a 1-0 victory.
Manchester United dominated the first half and after Raphael Varane’s goal was ruled out for offside, they went ahead on 18 minutes when Luke Shaw found Paul Pogba, who placed his shot into the corner.Paul Pogba scores his first Manchester United goal since January 2021.
The visitors tried to add to their lead but Edinson Cavani, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford were denied by goalkeeper Nick Pope before half-time.
Manchester United were left to rue those misses as three minutes into the second half, Burnley’s Wout Weghorst showed great skill before his reverse pass played in Rodriguez who ran in on goal to finish.
Weghorst had an effort saved by David De Gea soon after while Varane’s late backheel was blocked.
Cristiano Ronaldo has now gone five games without scoring a goal.
His longest drought since 2010 .
Burnley stay bottom with 14 points, four from safety, with two matches in hand on the three teams above them. Man Utd drop to fifth with 39 points, one point behind West Ham in fourth.
Manchester United’s Harry Maguire said ,”We’ve got to not concede a goal in that moment, I think it happened against Middlesbrough on Friday as well. We conceded a goal where they had their little spell of pressure. But, of course, we’ve created enough chances in the first half alone to win the football match and we’ve got to be a little bit more clinical from everyone. It’s definitely two points dropped”
After the match Manchester United coach Ralf Rangnick said ,“Today with only one point after those 94 minutes, nobody can be happy. And above all, if you want to be fourth in the league, we should not lose points like the ones tonight.”
