No.2 seed and two-time Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal opened his campaign for a third consecutive Grand Slam title with victory in the second match on Centre Court on Tuesday.

Taking on Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo, Nadal won 6-4, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in just over three-and-a-half hours.
The 36-year-old is aiming to become the sixth man in history to win the first three Grand Slams of the season this Fortnight.

He edges closer by recording his 306th Grand Slam victory and equals Martina Navratilova in fourth place on the all-time list of most singles victories at Grand Slams.
Nadal withdrew from The Championships 2021 due to fatigue. On his last appearance here, in 2019, he reached the semi-finals before falling to Roger Federer.
