Arsenal’s winning start to the season comes to an end as they slip to defeat at Old Trafford. It’s now four wins on the spin for Erik Ten Hag’s side.

Manchester United have won their last four Premier League matches, after having lost their first two this season. They are only the third side in Premier League history to win four in a row after losing their opening two in a season, after Tottenham in 2011-12 and Arsenal in 2018-19.

Arsenal have failed to win any of their last seven Premier League matches against Manchester United when starting the day top of the table (D2 L5)

Marcus Rashford scored two goals and created another as Manchester United ended Arsenal’s winning start to the season with a 3-1 victory.

Antony, the Brazilian winger signed from Ajax on Deadline Day, marked his debut with a 35th-minute goal from a sweeping team move.

Manchester United winger Antony – who today becomes the 100th Brazilian to appear in the Premier League – is the youngest player from the nation to score on his debut in the competition (22y 192d).

Arsenal levelled on the hour through Bukayo Saka’s first of the season, but Man Utd restored their lead six minutes later, when Rashford raced on to Bruno Fernandes’ precise through-ball to finish.

Bruno Fernandes has assisted 23 goals in open play in the Premier League, the most of any player in the competition since his debut (Feb 1 2020):23 – Bruno Fernandes 22 – Kevin De Bruyne 22 – Mohamed Salah 21 – Harry Kane 18 – Gabriel Jesus.

Rashford scored another breakaway goal to condemn the Gunners to their first defeat of the campaign.

A fourth successive win sends United up to fifth place with 12 points, three behind leaders Arsenal.

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said,
“Really disappointed to lose the game, especially what happened. We had some big periods where we were totally dominant, created chance after chance and didn’t close the game. And then when you give them space, they will hurt you. Both boxes was what decided the game today and my biggest regret is that we should have won the game given how we played”

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes said ,”Obviously a big win Arsenal have been really good this season. We knew it was a great game for us to win. Everyone was expecting a different result probably. We did what we had to do, did our job and we did it great. Everyone know what we can expect from Antony, he is still young and has to adapt to the Premier League, he has qualities and he will give us goals and assists”

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford said,”It’s a massive game against Arsenal and the fact they’ve had such a good start to the season means it was a big test for us. We stood up well and we can all be proud of ourselves. They’re a tough team, but we were up for the challenge. It was an even game, but in the second half we managed to exploit the spaces and that’s what made the difference”

Manchester  United  coach  Erik ten Hag said,”We are happy and satisfied with the win, also the performance against a really good team – they played really well. The spirit from this team, they can deal with setbacks so we did, it is really great and shows your mentality – we have really improved on that. We have the right characters and now it is about cooperation, deal with set backs but also improve – we have to stay calm, stay composed and play our game”
