Roblox unveils ‘4D’ AI creation tools powered by Cube Foundation Model, now in beta

Roblox’s new 4D generation tools allow players and creators to build fully functional in-game objects using simple text prompts, marking a shift from static 3D assets to interactive, AI-driven experiences.

Online gaming platform Roblox has expanded its generative AI offerings with the launch of 4D generation, a new feature released in beta and powered by its in-house Cube foundation model. The update represents a significant evolution from traditional 3D asset creation, enabling the generation of functional and interactive objects directly within games and experiences.

Roblox’s Cube foundation model was first introduced in March 2025 with Cube 3D, a text-to-mesh system designed to help developers create static 3D objects using natural-language prompts. Over time, Cube 3D became the backbone for several tools across Roblox Studio and in-experience APIs. With 4D generation, Roblox is extending this capability by adding behaviour, logic, and interactivity to AI-generated assets.

According to the company, creators can now allow players to generate usable objects in real time using simple text prompts. For example, a car created through 4D generation can include functional wheels and built-in scripts that make it drivable immediately, without manual modeling or coding. Roblox engineers said the system works by combining generated object meshes with predefined rule sets, known as schemas, which govern how components are assembled and how objects behave during gameplay.

Roblox said the technology is expected to significantly expand creative possibilities across the platform. The ability to generate interactive entities—such as vehicles, tools, and machinery—on the fly could lead to new gameplay mechanics and faster prototyping cycles. Early adopters within the Roblox developer community are already experimenting with the beta feature.

The launch is part of Roblox’s broader push to embed artificial intelligence more deeply into its creation ecosystem. The company has positioned AI as a way to democratise game development, making it easier for creators without advanced technical or programming skills to build complex experiences. Roblox reportedly has more than 85 million daily active users, spanning independent developers, hobbyists, and professional studios.

Roblox said the beta release of 4D generation is only the first step. The company’s longer-term vision for Cube includes expanding support for increasingly complex behaviours and interactions, with the aim of further transforming how virtual worlds and gameplay experiences are created on the platform.
