Chitrakoot: In Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh, the next morning of Diwali brings a different vibe. This year Salman, Shah Rukh, Ranbir and Hrithik have come to the banks of the Mandakini river. There is a crowd of spectators all around to see them. People have reached UP from different states to see them. Let us tell you that here the talk is not about movie stars but donkeys. And these donkeys named after film stars have come to sell in the historic ‘Donkey Mela’ of Chitrakoot. At the same time, Bihar’s animal trader Mohd. Dilshal has been selling animals by coming to this fair for the last 15 years.
This fair is held since the time of the Mughal emperor
Dilshad explains that the donkey fair is 300 years old and takes place from the time of Aurangzeb. It is said that when Aurangzeb’s close friends started running short of horses, he had brought donkeys and mules of good breed to sell from Afghanistan. Those donkeys were bought from this Chitrakoot market. At the same time, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb also included these donkeys in his army fleet. Dilshad told that he has brought 7 animals with him to this fair. Salman is the most expensive donkey among these 7 animals and its cost is about one and a half lakh rupees.
Donkeys are named after film actors
Let us tell that the cattle traders of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar participate in this fair held every year on the Mandakini coast. Along with this, buyers of these animals from all over the country reach this fair. Traders told that the donkeys sold here are identified in the name of film artists. According to traders, giving donkeys the name of Bollywood actors increases the sale of donkeys. At the same time, Moin told that the mules with good breed and good stature have been named Salman. Apart from this, the names of donkeys carrying heavy loads have been given Ranbir and Hrithik. At the same time, agile mules are called by the name Shahrukh. Please tell that the donkeys and mules sold in the fair have different rates.
Donkey fair is organized on the day of gathering
The festival of lamp donation is celebrated in Chitrakoot from Dhanteras to Bhai Dooj. This time 3 lakh devotees from all over the country have reached Chitrakoot to participate in this festival to be held on the occasion of Deepotsav. On the second day of Diwali i.e. from the day of Jamghat, ‘Donkey-Mela’ takes place. Munnalal Tripathi, chairman of the fair organizing committee, said that every year about 5 thousand donkeys come to this fair held on the banks of Mandakini. More people come to this fair to see them than to buy these donkeys. At the same time, the responsibility of arranging the fair is taken up by the Nagar Panchayat.
