Lata Mangeshkar has been admitted to the hospital after she contracted Covid 19. The legendary singer is currently undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital. Her niece confirmed that the Bharat Ratna recipient has mild symptoms and has been shifted to the ICU.
Lata Mangeshkar was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday after she was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus. The 92-year-old singer, who is also known as the nightingale of India, is currently undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital.
“She has other health issues and looking at age factor, doctors are closely monitoring her,” sources said.
In 1974, the Guinness Book of Records ranked her as the most recorded artiste in the history. Born on September 28, 1929, Lata Mangeshkar was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award and France’s highest civilian award, Officer of the Legion of Honour. She had reportedly sung over 25,000 songs between 1948 and 1974.

Mangeshkar celebrated her 92nd birthday last month and there was an outpour of love and best wishes for the music icon from all quarters on social media. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet said he prays for Mangeshkar’s “long and healthy life”.
