Maharashtra political crisis: Shiv Sena on Saturday passed a resolution saying that no one will be allowed to use the name of party founder Balasaheb Thackeray to form a new group. The development came hours after rebel MLA Deepak Kesarkar said that the faction led by Eknath Shinde has named itself “Shiv Sena Balasaheb”.

The deputy speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly issued disqualification notices to 16 rebel leaders who are camping with Shinde in Guwahati. They have been asked to respond by Monday.

The rebel MLAs, whose revolt plunged the Maharashtra government into political turmoil, are demanding that the Shiv Sena should quit the ruling alliance formed with the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party.

Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray said ,”Shiv Sena’s doors are open for those who want to leave and those who want to return to the party. Those rebel MLAs who are traitors will not be taken back into the party.”
