SILKYARA TUNNEL RESCUE OPERATIONS SLOWER, TRAPPED WORKERS ARE SAFE SAY OFFICIALS

by Web Desk

After the rescue operations hit a snag yesterday, drilling operations were supposed to have
resumed today. However, the NMDA has reported there has been no movement today of the
pipe through the debris and that there is a length of 15 metres left to cover to reach the
trapped workers inside before their evacuation is enabled. Bhaskar Khulbe, ex- Advisor to PMO
informed reporters at the site that the drilling machine’s platform has been revamped and
fortified through the night by shotcreting. He added that there may be further hurdles before
the rescue operations are enabled safely and therefore, it would be unfair to speculate and
put a timeline at this point.
It is heartening to know from officials that the trapped men are safe with adequate oxygen
and light and nutritious food and water is being supplied to them from time to time. Food and
medicines are also being sent to them.
Medical aid including equipped ambulances and doctors are deployed at the site, and facilities
to airlift any that may be in serious condition have been made.
