Chelsea attacker due back in Qatar after missing Senegal match. He has 20 goals from 81 England appearances.Sterling turned 28 on Thursday.
Raheem Sterling is due to rejoin the England squad at their FIFA World Cup™ base at Al Wakrah having missed Sunday’s Senegal match because of a family matter.
The Chelsea forward flew home following the reported discovery of a burglary at his home. In a statement on Thursday, the FA said: “Raheem Sterling will return to England’s World Cup base in Qatar. The Three Lions forward temporarily left to attend a family matter but is now expected to rejoin the squad in Al Wakrah tomorrow ahead of the quarter-final with France.”
Sterling started England’s first two matches in Qatar, scoring in the 6-2 opening win against IR Iran. He remained on the bench for the 3-0 victory over Wales and whether he will be considered for selection for Saturday’s quarter-final against France is uncertain given he will have missed almost all of the squad’s preparation work.
