Raheem Sterling is due to rejoin the England squad at their FIFA World Cupâĸ base at Al Wakrah having missed Sundayâs Senegal match because of a family matter.
The Chelsea forward flew home following the reported discovery of a burglary at his home. In a statement on Thursday, the FA said: âRaheem Sterling will return to Englandâs World Cup base in Qatar. The Three Lions forward temporarily left to attend a family matter but is now expected to rejoin the squad in Al Wakrah tomorrow ahead of the quarter-final with France.â
Sterling started Englandâs first two matches in Qatar, scoring in the 6-2 opening win against IR Iran. He remained on the bench for the 3-0 victory over Wales and whether he will be considered for selection for Saturdayâs quarter-final against France is uncertain given he will have missed almost all of the squadâs preparation work.
