The Central Election Commission (CEC) is set to release the schedule of assembly elections in five states, including West Bengal, at a press conference in Delhi on Friday afternoon. Earlier in the day, Mahayagya and Pujo were held at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Kalighat residence. According to sources, the Trinamool Congress may release the list of candidates this evening after the commission announces the vote.

The grand yajna was held at Mamata’s house in the Trinamool’s election warroom this morning. Jagannath Dayitapati, a devotee of the Jagannath Temple in Puri, performed the Yajna at the Chief Minister’s residence. Abhishek Banerjee presided over the puja. According to party sources, the pujo was organized to wish good results and good fortune to the party.

Meanwhile, today is Friday. The party’s core group meets almost every Friday at the Trinamool supremo’s home. That meeting is supposed to be held even today. Coincidentally, the commission is going to announce the election day on the same day. As it is Friday, the Chief Minister has always considered this day as auspicious. Therefore, it is thought that the Trinamool may publish the list of candidates after the meeting of the core group on this day.

However, according to sources, the Trinamool may not publish the complete list of candidates for 294 assembly seats at a time on the advice of voting strategist Prashant Kishore. In that case, Mamata may publish the list of the first episode on this day. Such is the news in the grassroots sources.
